                    TERRY SMITH                            RADIO PLAY BY PLAY


                     Terry Smith enters his 25th season on the Angels flagship radio station and 17th as the
                    Angels lead play-by-play announcer. His 25 seasons in the booth make Smith the longest
                    tenured broadcaster in club history.
                     Smith joined the Angels in 2002 after serving as the radio voice of the New York Yankees
                    Triple-A affiliate Columbus Clippers for 19 seasons. From 1983-97, Smith also served as
                    Sports Director on WBNS AM in Columbus, Ohio and was simply known as “The Voice”   UNDER  THE HALO
       serving as play-by-play announcer for the Ohio State University Football and Basketball Radio Network from
       1986-97. Smith was recognized three times by the Ohio Associated Press for his sportscasts and WBNS AM was
       named the Outstanding Sports Operation in Ohio six times by the Associated Press.
         Smith started his baseball broadcasting career in 1978, calling games for the Jacksonville Suns and later called
       games for the Memphis Chicks from 1981-82. At Memphis, Smith also worked as the Sports Director on WHBQ
       AM, anchoring sports on the morning and afternoon drive shows.
         The Philadelphia native attended Temple University, where he played collegiate club hockey, as well as Jones
       College in Jacksonville, FL. In February 2002, Smith made his on-screen debut as a broadcaster in the baseball
       movie A Little Inside, which aired on HBO and Showtime. He has served as Honorary Chair of the Orange County
       Learning for Life’s Exploring program. Smith and his wife, Sonia, have one son Jordan and a daughter-in-law
       Natalia, and one grandson Ollie.  The Smiths reside in Queen Creek, AZ.

                     Mark Langston enters his 14th full season on the Angels broadcast team after joining
                    Terry Smith on the air as an analyst on a part-time basis during the 2012 regular season.
                    During the 2019 season, Langston announced two games for the “MLB Game of the Week
                    Live on YouTube” on July 29th (Angels vs Detroit) and September 10th (Angels vs Cleveland).
                     Langston pitched 16 seasons at the Major League level, including eight with the Angels.
                    He was originally drafted by Seattle in the 1981 draft and pitched for the Mariners (1984-
       89) and Montreal Expos (1989) before joining the Angels prior to the 1990 season.
         On Apr. 11, 1990 Langston and Mike Witt combined to pitch the eighth no-hitter in Angels history and the
       first combined no-hitter in club history. He pitched to an 88-74 record with a 3.97 ERA in his eight seasons with
       the Angels before finishing his career with the San Diego Padres (1998) and Cleveland Indians (1999). A four-
       time All-Star, Langston also won seven Gold Glove Awards, including five straight from 1991-95 with the Angels.
         After retiring, Langston became the head baseball coach at Orange Lutheran High School where he guided the
       Lancers to a playoff berth in 2002. In Nov. 2018, Langston was inducted into the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame.
         A native of San Diego, Langston resides with his wife, Michelle. The couple has two daughters, Katie and Gabi,
       and three grandkids.
                     JUAN ANGEL AVILA               SPANISH RADIO BROADCASTER


                     Juan Angel Avila joins the Angels for his first season as the Spanish Radio play-by-play
                   voice, bringing with him over 28 years of broadcasting experience.
                     Avila has been a play-by-play announcer for Toros De Tijuana of the Mexican Summer
                   League since 2015, being the voice of Toros De Tijuan during both of their championships
                   in 2017 and 2021. Avila began has broadcasting career as the play-by-play TV voice of the
       Venados de Mazatlán, and then went on to spend 17 seasons with the San Diego Padres Spanish Radio team
       handling both play-by-play and color commentary. With the Padres, Avila was in the booth for the 1998 World
       Series run, as well as the team’s Division Series appearnces in 2005 & 2006, and the 2007 Wild Card game.
         In 2020, Avila returned to Mazatlánto broadcast Winter League games on SKY Sports for the Mexican Pacific
       League. On July 20, 2024, Avila was inducted into the City of Tijuana Hall of Fame alongside former Angel Benji
       Gil.
         A native of Mazatlán Avila resides in San Diego, CA with his wife, Erica, and is a proud father of his two
       daughters, Airam, who is a social worker, and Tiffany, who is a senior studying performance arts at UC Berkeley.
