◆ Joins Angels organization as bench coach in 2026, bringing 41 years of professional baseball
coaching experience.
◆ Most recently served as the Mets bench coach from 2024-2025.
◆ Managed Blue Jays from 2013-18, his second stint as Jays manager (also, 2004-08)...Managed the second-
most regular season games in Blue Jays history (1582), with a 793-789 (.501) record.
◆ Made consecutive playoff appearances with the 2015-16 Blue Jays, reaching the ALCS in both
seasons...Led the 2015 Blue Jays to their first division title and Postseason appearance since 1993.
◆ In 2012, managed Double-A San Antonio in the San Diego organization.
◆ Spent three seasons as Royals bench coach from 2009-11.
◆ Managed Blue Jays in his first stint from 2004-08 and went 305-305 (.500)...Managed three games as
interim manager in place of Carlos Tosca during the 2003 season, winning all three games....Was named
Toronto’s interim manager on August 8, 2004, after Tosca was relieved of his duties…Appointed as ninth
full-time manager in Blue Jays history on October 4, 2004.
◆ Named Bullpen Catcher for Blue Jays on January 1, 2002…Promoted to First Base Coach on June
3, 2002.
◆ Spent three seasons managing Triple-A Norfolk from 1999-2001…Led the Tides to a first-place
finish in 2001 after posting an 85-57 record.
◆ Named Eastern League Manager of the Year in 1998 with Double-A Binghamton and won the Casey
Stengel Award as Mets organizational Manager of the Year.
◆ Managed High-A St. Lucie from 1996-97...Captured second championship in as many years as he
led High-A St. Lucie to a Florida State League Championship in 1996.
◆ Made managerial debut in 1995 with the Single-A Kingsport Mets and won the Appalachian League
Championship…Was named Appalachian League Manager of the Year after posting a 48-18 record
in the regular season.
◆ Was a coach for the Single-A Capital City Bombers in 1994.
◆ Spent first three seasons in Mets organization from 1991-93 as a roving minor league instructor.

◆ Played in 18 career Major League games with Mets in 1984 and 1986...Made MLB debut on April
11, 1984 vs. Atlanta...Recorded his first career Major League hit in Mets home opener on April 17,
1984 vs. Expos...Appeared in eight games for Mets in 1986 and batted .474 (9-19) with one HR and
one RBI...Went 4-4 and slugged his lone MLB home run on September 20, 1986 vs. Philadelphia.
◆ Played in 962 career minor league games with the Mets (1980-87), Dodgers (1988-89) and Phillies
(1990) organizations...Named as lone catcher on Postseason All-Star team for Jackson (AA) in the
Texas League...Shared the Doubleday Award with Herm Winningham as the club’s Most Valuable
Player...Was selected to International League All-Star team and was named to the year-end All-Star
team in 1987.
