DERRIN EBERT PITCHING COORDINATOR

◆ 2026 will mark Ebert’s first season as Pitching Coordinator after serving as Assistant
Pitching Coordinator in 2025...He was previously a Pitching Coach for Triple-A Salt
Lake in 2023 and ACL Angels in 2022.
◆ Joined the Angels organization following nine years (2012-20) with Cincinnati in
various coaching roles, including on the Major League staff in 2018 and as Manager of
Rookie League Greeneville in 2020.
PLAYING CAREER
◆ Selected by Atlanta in the 18th round of 1994 Draft...Made five Major League appearances for Braves in
1999 and earned a save in MLB debut on April 6, 1999 vs. PHI...Pitched in the Royals, Diamondbacks, Cubs,
Brewers and Red Sox minor league systems...Retired as a professional player following the 2005 season.
◆ Received Associate of Arts degree from Estrella Mountain College (Avondale, AZ) in 2008 and a Bachelors
degree in secondary education (history) from Arizona State University in December 2009...Appeared in the
2011 movie Moneyball, playing former Athletics pitcher Mike Magnante.

◆ Wuertz enters his 11th season with the Angels organization and first as
Assistant Pitching Coordinator in 2026. PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
◆ He was previously a Pitching Coach with Inland Empire (2016-17, 2019),
Orem (2018), Tri-City (2021) and Rocket City (2022-25).

◆ Appeared in 426 Major League games with Chicago and Oakland from 2004-
2011...Over his eight-year career, he pitched to a 21-11 record and a 3.71 ERA (414.1 IP — 171 ER) with
444 strikeouts.
◆ Holds the Cubs franchise record for most games pitched in a rookie season, which he set in 2005 after
appearing in 75 games.
◆ Selected by the Cubs in the 11th round of the 1997 First-Year Player Draft out of Austin High School in
Austin, MN...Made his MLB debut on April 5, 2004 with CHC vs. CIN.

Baseball Coach at his alma mater, Stephen F. Austin State University.

◆ Played collegiately at East Texas Baptist University, where he graduated in 2006 with a degree in
Kinesiology...He later earned a Master’s degree in Human Performance from Stephen F. Austin State
University in 2015.

2022-23...Signed as a minor league free agent with Phillies on March 1, 2022.
