◆ Enters 12th season in Angels organization and fourth as Manager of Low-A Inland
Empire in 2025.
◆ In 2024, Inland Empire finished in fourth place in the California League South
Division with a 58-72 (.446) record.
◆ Led team to a second playoff berth in 2023, winning California League South
Division second-half championship in consecutive seasons.
◆ In 2022, 66ers finished with a 70-62 record (.530) to win the South Division second-
half championship and finished second place overall in the South Division of the California League, making
the playoffs.
◆ Managed ACL Angels in 2021 and the team finished with a 30-28 record (.517), fourth in the division...2019

and won the first-half title, but fell in the Pioneer League South division playoff series...Guided Owlz to a 42-33
record (.560) and a playoff berth in 2014, but lost the Championship Series to Billings.
◆ Previously coached his alma mater Grand Canyon University for 17 seasons, including more than 10 years as
Head Coach with a 256-290 record (.469) with the Antelopes...The GCU softball stadium, Stapleton-Pierson
Stadium, is partially named after him.

◆ Spent six seasons in the Brewers organization as a left-handed relief pitcher from 1984-89.
◆ Pitched 10 Major League games for Milwaukee (1987-88), finishing with a 2-0 record and 3.81 ERA (28.1 IP - 12
ER) and 20 strikeouts.

◆ In five minor league seasons, went 30-26 with a 3.43 ERA (444 IP - 169 ER) and 310 strikeouts...In 1987, with
Double-A El Paso and Triple-A Denver, went 11-3 with a 3.88 ERA (139.1 IP - 60 ER).

◆ The Curaçao native was initially drafted by Angels in ninth round of 2004 Draft and played six seasons in Angels
system, reaching as high as Triple-A Salt Lake in 2010...Named a Mid-Season All-Star in 2006 with Single-A Cedar
Rapids and 2007 with Adv.-A Rancho Cucamonga.
◆ After becoming a minor league free agent prior to the 2011 season, signed with Brewers and played four more
minor league seasons before retiring.
